Now China has another kind of Coronavirus?

China has reported yet another virus being found in the country, which has just as much pandemic potency, as the Novel Coronavirus, which was found in Wuhan, in China, in late December 2019 and which went on to kill lacs of people and infect millions, all over the globe. The virus is known as the G4 virus.

In the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) journal, research was published on this new kind of Coronavirus and it was stated that this new kind of virus has:

“All the essential hallmarks of a potential pandemic virus”.

Carl T. Bergstrom, University of Washington, USA, Biologist, Tweets:

“What the paper does do is something important for the epidemiological community: it points to a virus that we need to be keeping a careful eye on. Screening will be important, particularly if clusters of illness emerge in swine workers.”

In the journal it was also stated:

“Such infectivity greatly enhances the opportunity for virus adaptation in humans and raises concerns for the possible generation of pandemic viruses. The new virus is a worrying concern in pig farms and the widespread passage of the G4 pathogen in swines increases their exposure to humans.”

China has the biggest pig populace in the globe and the new influenza virus, has started to infect pigs in China. The new virus has genes that are akin to those that brought about the flu pandemic, in the year 2009.

It has been said that though pigs are the carrier of the virus, it could also infect human beings. There is a big worry now that this new kind of Coronavirus, could mutate and spread from human to human and thus cause yet another global viral outbreak.

Scientists have said that this new virus in pig farms, is a growing problem. They added that as the G4 virus starts to widely spread in pigs, the virus:

“Inevitably increases their exposure to humans.”

In China, there are currently around 83,600 cases and 4,650 deaths, due to Coronavirus.
