International Comic Strip Festival Boycott Called For

International comic strip festival boycott called for.

The 48th edition of the international comic strip festival will take place for the general public, from June 24 to 27, 2021. However, it will not go smoothly. Nearly 600 comic book authors, fighting against the precariousness of the profession, want to take advantage of the event, to question the status of authors, 50% of whom earned less than even minimum wages – and lived way below the poverty line! These authors are also questioning the reforms which are late to arrive.

The Angoulême festival awards ceremony takes place this Friday, January 29, 2021, from the large hall of the Angoulême theater, in small groups, with the presence of a handful of professionals from the comic world. The prizes will be awarded to the authors live, by comedian Thomas VDB.

The Angoulême Grand Prix is the ultimate reward for a comic book author and it is awarded during the official opening ceremony of the Festival, June 24, 2021.

Emmanuel Guibert won the award last year and it is an opportunity to discover the exhibition dedicated to him in June 2021.

But now, a boycott has been called for of the international comic strip festival.
