Cupra Formentor details revealed!
Cupra held another online event where it revealed all the details of the new Cupra Formentor, the first model created to be exclusively a Cupra. At 4.45 meters, it is the equivalent of a Seat Ateca, but with a more aggressive and sporty look. In this first phase of launch it will be sold with the 2.0 TSI engine that reaches 310 hp and 400 Nm of torque, power that reaches the four-wheel drive through the DSG automatic transmission. This will allow you to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.9 seconds. Coming in October, this variant will be the “flagship” of the new Cupra model.
However, the goal is to reach a total of seven engines and the total sales to be as much or higher than the other Cupra combined (Cupra Ateca and Cupra Leon), something that demonstrates the true importance of this new model. It should be noted that the second solution, which arrives in 2021, will be a plug-in hybrid that combines the 1.4 TSI engine with an electric propeller that together reach 245 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. This solution already known, for example, in the Golf GTE, is seen as the great hope of sales and, according to the brand, the goal is that it represents half of the sales of the model.
In short, Wayne Griffiths welcomes the post-pandemic “new normal” for both Seat and Cupra. With production normalizing to 2000 cars produced per day, sales figures for September are, according to what was said at the event, at the level of the same month last year. In addition, it sees both brands finding it easier to recover from the crisis than other generalist brands, thanks to the target audience being among the youngest in the market. Without forgetting that Cupra is already preparing two new models, Tavascan and a 100% electric based on Seat El-Born.
But for now, Cupra Formentor details have been revealed!
