Brazil President tests positive for Coronavirus.
Jair Bolsonaro, the President of Brazil, announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19. At the same time, the President of Brazil said that people who are young, should not worry about Coronavirus.
Jair Bolsonaro said:
“Unless they have some serious health problem, the chances of under-40s suffering more serious consequences from the infection are close to zero.”
Albeit, the father of deceased Hugo Dutra, would not agree with the President of Brazil. Hugo Dutra was young and fit and it was reported that he had no medical issues at all. But, after being on a ventilator for 8 days, he died on April 18, 2020, in Rio, succumbing to the killer Coronavirus disease.
Hugo Dutra’s father, Marcio Antonio Silva, says:
“This virus can kill anyone, of any age. My son was 25, healthy, worked three jobs and never ever got sick – and he’s not here anymore.”
He went on to say:
“The thing that most hurts me is Bolsonaro’s indifference to our grief… It was repulsive to hear him yesterday. He said young people were not in danger – so why did my son die?”
Experts are disputing the claims being made by the President of Brazil, that people who are young, are almost totally immune to the killer Coronavirus.
Fiocruz health research institute, Rio, researcher, Carlos Machado, says:
“The president’s remarks do not hold water. The message should be one of protecting everyone.”
After announcing that he had tested positive for Novel Coronavirus, Jair Bolsonaro, removed his mask, grinned broadly and announced:
“Just look at my face. I’m well, fine, thank God … Thanks to all those who have been praying for me … and to those who criticise me, no problem, carry on criticising as much as you like.”
Brazil is the second hardest hit country by the Coronavirus pandemic, after the United States of America. There are around 68,100 deaths and almost 1,720,000 cases in Brazil, because of the killer Coronavirus.
