Angelina Jolie will let go of one of her works of art. The actress is selling the only painting made by British Prime Minister Winston Churchill during World War II. The Winston Churchill painting has an estimated value of up to 2.5 million pounds and will be auctioned on March 1.
The Winston Churchill painting be sold at the Christie’s auction house in London, which did not give details about the painting’s trajectory, but revealed that it has belonged to the Angelina Jolie collection since 2011. The price estimate ranges from 1.5 million to 2.5 million pounds.
The Winston Churchill painting was painted in Marrakesh, Morocco, after Churchill attended the Casablanca Conference in January 1943. At the conference, he and then President of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt, formulated the next stage of the Allied strategy to defeat Nazi Germany.
Churchill painted several scenes in Morocco before the start of the war, but this Winston Churchill painting is the only known work he did between 1939 and 1945.
